THE Story of Milagro
"In June 2008, while on a trip to Guatemala, six months after adoptions had closed between Guatemala and the United States, I was visiting with some friends. The stories they told broke my heart. Only days earlier, a 48 hour old newborn girl had been abandoned in the countryside outside of Antigua. During these 48 hours this precious baby endured torrential down pours while laying alone in the woods. When this little treasure was finally found, she was alive and clutching a plant so tightly it was difficult for the rescuers to unwrap her tiny little fingers. The rescuers named her Milagro, which in Spanish means MIRACLE. I also learned of some teenagers who found newborn twins dead in a city dump.
I knew at that moment, I needed to do something to help these forgotten, vulnerable, little children. In a country where over 75% of its population lives below the poverty level and they simply do not have the means to care for a child. So began the Children's Home of El Amor de Patricia, named after my mother."

Initially we focused on the children that have been neglected or abandoned. We have expanded the focus to include the family. We work with communities, supporting vulnerable populations in their quest for education, life skills, and a better quality of life. We raise people up and know that no community is helpless or hopeless. We meet people where they are, with the hope to change the trajectory of their lives.
We provide hope as we imagine communities where everyone can thrive.
