My name is Kia Vilchez and I am a rising third-year at Northeastern University in Boston. I am excited to announce that I will be running the Narragansett Summer Running Festival Half-Marathon on July 16th to raise money for El Amor de Patricia. El Amor de Patricia, located in San Lucas, Sacatepequez, Guatemala, is a home for abandoned, abused, and neglected children who are loved, appreciated, and encouraged to reach their full potential in a family-style setting. Through providing stability, healthy nutrition and a private education the mission of this home is to empower Guatemalan children, families, and communities to reach their full potential. El Amor de Patricia values integrity, a strong work ethic, respect, and excellence, all of which are values that resonate with who I am. I am running this half-marathon to support various projects such as the feeding program, increasing health and safety through infrastructure in rural Guatemala, strengthing housing and sanitization, the Clean Water Project as well as The Bunk Bed Project.
